C&L: A Maternity Session Full of Love and Fun!
When C&L called to share the news of their pregnancy, I was excited for two reasons. Firstly, because I couldn’t have been happier to hear that my friends were starting a family. Secondly, because I knew how much fun we were going to have when they visited for a maternity photography session! My mind had been spinning in the weeks before the photoshoot with new ideas for poses, props and backgrounds and they were just as energised as I was to try them out.
Before the session began, we sat down to talk through my ideas and agreed that we would contrast the more traditional shots of mom’s growing belly with some fun and light-hearted alternatives. C&L had even more ideas to add to the pot and together we created a checklist for the shoot. Now we had everything we needed to get started!
I usually recommend that clients bring around six different outfits to a maternity photography session, though there’ll probably only be time for three or four. Sometimes, an outfit that’s gorgeous to the eye just doesn’t look quite right on camera. If we have extras on hand, we can simply swap mom into another and, as you can see from the images, all those clothing options help each image stand apart.
Of course, it takes two to make a baby! I want dad to be just as involved as mom, if he’s willing. It’s fun for me to watch a couple as much in love as C&L interacting with one another and enjoying their time at the studio. Capturing mom and dad together also creates fabulous pictures to celebrate the birth of a brand new family.
C&L were eager to share their joy. They opted for our deluxe digital collection so they could print their images as many times as they wanted – both come from a large family and knew they would need plenty of prints to go around! They also chose to include several mini “brag” albums in their collection as gifts for both family and friends.
I really enjoyed shooting this couple and I’m pleased to say that all the ideas we tried worked perfectly. Huge thanks to C&L for agreeing to be my guinea pigs and for making the shoot an absolute blast!
I’d love to share these new ideas with you during your own maternity photography session so, if some of the images have caught your eye along the way, just let me know when you book your session – give us a call or email us now to reserve your date!
