Toronto First Year Photography: Baby Parker, the Born Entertainer!
At eight months old, baby’s personality is just beginning to shine through. Some are inquisitive, some are affectionate – and others, like little Parker, are a bundle of sheer happiness. It’s rare for a baby’s sense of humor to be quite so developed at this age but, when mom and dad are so much fun themselves, it’s not surprising that their little one is a born entertainer!
Baby Parker really enjoyed his Toronto first year photography session – particularly the moments when he could make the rest of us laugh with him. His cheerful nature inspired so many of the images we captured, from giggles on a wooden chair to a bare bottom in daddy’s favourite baseball cap. And while we were working to make him smile for the camera, he was doing everything he could to make us grin right back!
With a little one this full of character, it’s impossible to resist the temptation to play around with my tried-and-true repertoire of poses. There’s a particular image I like to include in a first year photography session because it’s always such a big hit with mom and dad. I place baby under a blanket with the edge resting gently on the top of their head to encourage quizzical faces and the cutest wide grins. But in this case, Parker himself took the pose a step further. No sooner had we draped the blanket on his head than he was pulling it straight over his face to play peek-a-boo!
A special moment stands out for me from this photoshoot. When the family visited for their maternity session, dad brought a pair of tiny shoes that exactly matched his own. We placed them between mom and dad’s feet, which was such a sweet way to illustrate their anticipation and announce the news to their loved ones. But when those shoes reappeared at this session, it was even more heartwarming to see. This time, when we set up the very same pose, those little shoes fit perfectly on Parker’s feet.
Parker’s family was a true pleasure to work with and their love couldn’t have shone through more clearly. From smiles with his parents to portraits playing with toys, and even the moments when his face broke into a frown, this little one was simply irresistible. And if Parker was this entertaining to work with at just eight months old, I can only imagine what he’ll bring to his next session!
